NASAL SURGERY (Rhinoplasty)
Continued

Dr. Vogt has performed over a thousand corrective rhinoplasty surgeries in his career and still chooses to use a closed technique in which there are no external scars except if the base of the nose is narrowed somewhat. This is truly an art form and each person needs to be treated as a unique individual.

The surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia and will require packing for 24 hours and a nasal splint for approximately one week. There is minimal pain associated with the procedure; however, black eyes almost always occur and patients will usually require at least 1 week to 10 days away from their usual employment.

Limited physical activity will be possible within two weeks after the surgical procedure and full activity will be resumed after four weeks. The most common complication that can occur after this surgery is severe nasal bleeding. Complete healing of the nose may take as long as three to six months, particularly if extensive work is performed on the nasal tip.

Patient satisfaction with rhinoplasty surgery is extremely high. The eye-nose complex is perhaps the most sensitive complex in the facial area as this is where everyone visits with each other. If the nose is successfully corrected, the patient frequently has a very enhanced personal image.
