FOREHEAD LIFT (Brow Lift)

SURGICAL FOREHEAD LIFT (BROW LIFT)

Careful evaluation of the patient is necessary to determine if the forehead is high or low and also to see how much droopiness has occurred in the eyebrow area. If the forehead is very high, a frontal hairline forehead lift can be performed. By using a very careful technique, the scar will be hidden completely after six weeks to three months of healing. This is a wonderful procedure in selected cases. One also needs to be very careful when an endoscopic forehead lift is proposed in the face of a high forehead. This will lead to an even higher forehead which from an aesthetic standpoint becomes somewhat unsightly.

In the case of a lower forehead, an endoscopic forehead lift can be performed and/or I prefer to still use a bicoronal forehead lift made at least 2” behind the frontal hairline so that the scar becomes completely hidden. This will elevate the forehead slightly and give a more pleasing aesthetic appearance.

These techniques will raise the eyebrows, give the impression of the eyes being more opened with a better appearance of the upper eyelids, also effectively decrease the furrows between the eyebrows, reduce the deep lines of the forehead and even lessen the crow’s feet on the corners of the eye. Patients can usually return to work one week after surgery. The forehead and scalp may remain numb for up to six months to a year with some itching occurring in the healing phase. Otherwise, it is a very well tolerated operative procedure with a very high satisfaction rate.

A forehead lift would not stop you from aging, but it will help you look younger and more rested for years to come.
