BREAST ENLARGEMENT

INCISIONS AND IMPLANT PLACEMENT IN BREAST ENLARGEMENT SURGERY

Dr. Vogt prefers to use the inframammary (under the breast, in the crease) incision for placement of the implants in breast enlargement surgery. This incision allows an excellent access to the sub muscular level and does not harm the woman's breast.

Dr. Vogt places the implant behind the pectoralis muscle as there are numerous advantages to this technique. These include: a more natural-appearing breast with a better transition to the upper chest of the breast mound, the percentage of scarring around the implant is significantly lower, and the risk of visible ripples or folds in the implant envelope is diminished because of the greater amount of the patient's own tissue overlying the implant. Also, it is easier for the patient to carry out self-examinations of the breast with greater reliability, and, mammography is significantly more reliable as well.
